You know that thing where you and your best friend keep saying you need a proper night out, and then it's been four months and "let's just grab dinner" is starting to feel a little tired?
This is the fix.
On Sunday September 27th, eight of us will gather at Tiny Greenhouse to hand-build a pair of bookend planters from scratch. Two and a half hours of clay under your hands, a glass of whatever you brought from home, plants in every direction, and no one asking you anything for the entire evening.
I'll walk you through every step. You've never touched clay before? Good — most of the people in the room haven't either. This workshop is built for total beginners. I'll show you the techniques, you'll shape your pieces, and by the end of the night you'll have a matching pair of planter bookends ready to head to the kiln.
Here's what they are: ceramic bookends that hold a small plant. They do real work on your shelf (they actually hold up books) and they look like something you made, not something you bought. You'll shape them in a style that's yours, with the glazes you pick. No two pairs leave the studio looking the same.
It's the kind of evening you'll be telling your group chat about for weeks.

WHAT YOU'LL LEAVE WITH
A pair of one-of-a-kind sculptural bookend planters, shaped by you, in the glazes you chose. After class, your pieces go to the Twin Fish Pottery studio in Point Pleasant to dry, get fired, glazed, and fired again. You'll come back to pick them up in 3 to 4 weeks.
GOOD TO KNOW
Tickets are non-refundable but fully transferable. If something comes up, send a friend in your place — they'll thank you for it.
Eight seats means this fills up fast. If you're thinking about it, grab yours.
FAQ
I haven't touched clay since middle school. Will I be okay? Yes. This workshop is built for beginners — most people in the room will be in the same boat. I walk you through every step, and I've spent ten years teaching people who walked in convinced they "weren't artistic." They left with pieces they were proud of. You will too.
Why is pickup 3 to 4 weeks out? Ceramics is slow on purpose. After you build your pieces, they need to dry completely, get fired, get glazed, and get fired again. The wait is the difference between real, durable, kiln-fired pottery and the air-dry stuff that cracks in a year.
Can I bring a friend? Or three? Please do. Just book one seat per person. This makes a great birthday treat, girls' night, anniversary thing, or just-because plan.
What if I can't make it? Tickets are non-refundable, but they are transferable. Send a friend in your place — they'll have a great night.
What should I wear? Something you don't mind getting a little clay on. Your nails will be fine.
Is this 21+? Yes, since BYOB. Please drink responsibly and arrange a ride home if you need one.
Are plants included? The bookend planters are yours to keep. Plants to fill them are not — but you will be inside a plant shop, so.
