You keep saying you need a proper catch-up.

Not another dinner where you split a check and shout over the table. Not drinks you'll forget by Sunday. An actual night — the kind where your hands are busy, the wine is poured, and somewhere between the laughing and the clay you realize you haven't checked your phone in an hour.

That's this.

For a couple of hours, you and your crew sit down, roll up your sleeves, and make a mug from a flat slab of clay. No wheel. No experience. Nobody at this table knows what they're doing,  — the wobbly ones end up being everyone's favorite.

You'll pick your shape (a curl-up-on-the-couch coffee mug, or a lidded to-go mug for the morning commute), build it by hand, and make it yours — your marks, your texture, your color. I'll walk you through every step, top off your glass, and make sure nobody's left staring at a lump of clay wondering where to start.

By the end of the night you'll have something none of you can buy in a store: a mug you made, on a night you'll bring up for months.

What you'll make

Your own hand-built mug — coffee or to-go, your call. You shape it, you decorate it, you choose the glaze. Every one comes out a little different, which is the whole charm.

How the night flows

  • Arrive, pour a drink, settle in with your crew

  • Pick your mug style — coffee or to-go

  • I teach you the hand-building basics (slab, smooth, stamp, shape)

  • You build, decorate, and make it unmistakably yours

  • I handle the rest — glazing and two firings happen after you leave

What's included

  • All the clay, tools, and guidance

  • Glazing and firing (the studio magic that makes it last)

  • A finished, food-safe mug to take home

  • A table full of your favorite people and zero pressure to be "good at art"

BYOB — bring the wine, the prosecco, the seltzer, whatever your group runs on.

A note on timing

Real clay takes real time. Your mugs need to dry, get fired, glazed, and fired again before they're yours to keep — so you'll pick them up at the studio about 3–4 weeks after the workshop. Worth the wait, promise.

Meet your guide

I'm Emily — potter, Jersey Shore girl, and the person who'll make sure your group has the best night. I've been teaching people "who aren't creative" to make things they love for over a decade. Spoiler: you're more creative than you think.
