You're particular about your coffee. The beans, the grind, the ritual of those first quiet minutes before the day starts asking things of you.
So why are you drinking it out of a mug from a big box store?
Here's a better idea: make the mug yourself.
In a couple of hours, you'll build a mug by hand — no wheel, no experience, just a slab of clay and a little guidance from me. You'll shape it to fit your hand, give it the weight and the lip and the feel you actually want, and finish it in a glaze you choose. Want a sit-down mug for slow mornings at home? Build that. Want a lidded to-go mug for the commute? Build that instead. Your coffee, your call.
This is the part most people don't expect: a mug you made hits different. The weight is right because you made it right. The handle fits because you fit it. And every morning after, that first cup comes with a quiet little hit of "I made this."
I'll teach you everything — how to shape it, smooth it, and make it yours — and handle the glazing and firing after you leave. You bring the appreciation for a good cup. I'll bring the clay.
What you'll make
Your own hand-built mug, designed around how you actually drink coffee — coffee mug or lidded to-go, your choice. Your shape, your texture, your glaze choice.

A note on timing
Good coffee is worth waiting for, and so is good clay. Your mug needs to dry, get fired, glazed, and fired again — so you'll pick it up at the studio about 3–4 weeks after the workshop. Then every morning is a little better.
Meet your guide
I'm Emily — potter, glaze-maker, and a person who takes her morning cup seriously. For over a decade I've taught beginners to make functional pieces they reach for every day. Your mug will be one of them.
